Default Savoy Hill Publications

Has anyone used this company recently? http://www.savoy-hill.co.uk/index.htm
I made a mistake on the payment page while searching for the pay by Paypal icon. I have emailed the company about this and have not received any reply. I dont want to send a cheque now as they havn't responded to my questions.

I made the same mistake Malcolm. Heard nothing back so didn't proceed with order. Paul can be a bit difficult to contact sometimes though.

I sent an order a good while ago now and sent payment by cheque, but have not heard anything back!

Thanks to all. I have now ordered the parts from a different supplier.

I noticed last time I tried to make an order with them that the pay by Paypal button has gone, that was a good few months back. I didn't bother to go any further with the order and found the parts I needed elsewhere. Shame as I used to buy all my capacitors from them!

Does anyone know if they are actually still trading?

Regards,
Lloyd

I was just going to start a thread on this very subject!

I made my order on July 7th and received a confirmation email. The cheque was sent on the same day, but I have still not received anything to date. A follow-up enquiry to the 'sales' email last week has not produced any response.

I don't know if its simply because he's a one-man band and is on holiday or has had some kind of family crisis, but with no feedback we can only guess. A shame, as he had all the parts I needed at reasonable prices.

This is my first experience of this company, so naturally I'm disappointed.

Ditto: recently, in my haste, I bought a few components from Savoy Hill. It was only afterwards that I discovered that I could have purchased same, elsewhere, at a much cheaper price. And the delivery time was poor, too. I shan't be using them again.

I have used them quite a few times in the past, mainly for capacitors.
Never had a problem, although delivery was on the slow side.
I now use CPC, who are cheaper and offer free delivery.

Clicking on that link today, Malcolm, results in a '404 Not Found' Another link on Yahoo Search came up with 'forbidden!. There is, apparently, a Savoy Hill Publications Museum, whose address is given a 7, Rabys Road, Scorrier, Redruth, Cornwall, TR16 5AW. Phone 01209 820771., but clicking on the website link given only results in 'forbidden!' again. I haven't tried phoning them, though

They seem to be active on e-Bay. The contact details bring up the same address.

And with very good feedback too. Obviously, they'd just abandoned their website. Good to see they've pulled it altogether now.

Good to see that they still trade on ebay, I suppose it's easier for them to just list stuff on there, no hassle of keeping a website up and running!

I've just clicked the link on 'The Pillenwerfer's' post #12 above, and all I get is a 'Sorry this shop does not exist' notice, so maybe they have ceased trading altogether now. Anyone know for sure?

I tried to telephone Savoy Hill, but the reply was "this number does not accept incoming calls".

The website has also disappeared, I think we can safely say they are no more.

The e-mail still works, at least it wasn't bounced, don't know if they will reply though!

They were excellent in providing manufacturer's service details on radios. The trader sheets are alright, but if you require further details then you are stuck.
Cheers
