NEC projector fix
This repair is modern tech but it has stopped a bit more land fill. At work we use projectors to display patient details onto a wall rather than the normal PC screen. One of these stopped working (NECM260XS) and would not fire the lamp. So we removed it from the ceiling mount and started to look at it. Between the lamp and the dichroic mirrors there is a shutter system that can control the brightness of the image. This was jammed. I removed the tiny motor and the shutters moved freely, the motor also spun easily but when the motor drive was engaged it jammed. Close inspection with a bright light and a magnifier showed that the drive pinion on the motor had split so causing the jam. These modules are available from E Bay but we are not allowed to buy from there, other companies said the part was obsolete. Cue the scrapping of the projector. I interrupted its journey to the bin and got a new lamp and shutter module from E Bay. Refit the parts and a decent quality projector for a few pounds. The 1P coin is for scale.
