Tatjana van Vark
Hi,
I referred to one of her creations in another thread; but thought her work deserved wider attention. I suspect a few of our resident home constructors might find the creations of Tatjana van Vark interesting and inspiring. Her work's not strictly vintage radio related, though you'll find a radio she built using a Loewe 3NF 'integrated circuit' on the site so I'm allowing myself to post this here... Cheers, Kat |

Re: Tatjana van Vark

had a quick look but don't have time to look in depth right now... |

Hi,
Quote:
She made them. The oscilloscope she made in 1958 (age 14); the cryptograph from 2003; the things on that site were variously designed, invented and constructed by Tatjana van Vark herself. Cheers, Kat. |

What a fantastic site Kat. I have bookmarked it for future perusal. She is a true engineer in every sense.

Excellent - I only wish I had the space to set up the Avionics from a Vulcan Bomber!
The miniature H2S rebuild is truly inspirational! Cheers Sean

Hi Neil,
...and demonstrates very clearly that "engineering" and "art" go hand-in-hand, something which, as an engineer of the "artistic, creative" type myself, I've argued about with somewhat unimaginative management types on occasion... Cheers, Kat |

Re: Tatjana van Vark
Thanks for that, Kat - bookmarked and filled with awe!
Nice to see that at least two people born in the same year decided to make a Synchronome-Shortt clock

Re: Tatjana van Vark
This is unbelievable stuff. Yet another example of a name that we should all have heard much more of - or am I the only one that hadn't?
Thanks for the link! |

Re: Tatjana van Vark
Thanks for this site Kat.
You know, the internet contains endless surprises. Speaking for myself, this has allowed me to feel increasingly at home in a world which is proving pleasantly full of hidden individualists. This world was formerly completely submerged under the baleful barrage of mass pop/celebrity culture. OK... rant over. Steve |
