Compton electric heaters and appliances
The John Compton Organ Company made both pipe and electronic organs, which in itself was something of a rarity. But, after WW2, during which they had been mainly engaged with war work including components for RADAR, they seemed to have attempted to diversify, perhaps to make use of some of the leftovers from the war work.
A new company, the Compton Engineering Co. Ltd, was formed, and below is an advert taken from the August 1947 edition of 'The Electrician' showing their convector heater. They also made theatre lighting consoles for Strand, but the circumstances of that collaboration are well understood and documented. There was also an attempt at diversification in the late 1960s, having been bought out by another engineering firm, resulting in the manufacture of caravan parts, no less. But has anyone seen one of these heaters, or any other non-organ product of the Compton Engineering Co. Ltd? |

Re: Compton electric heaters and appliances
Adding a picture of another style of Compton heater as a memory jogger. Anyone seen this distinctive design?
