Video recording on compact cassettes.
I was watching Tv last night re two american guys who collect and sell on older tech stuff from the eighties etc
What fascinated me was a toy that recorded video on standard audio compact cassette !!! I have never heard of such a device the picture was in black ans white even grainey but I could not believe it worked have any of heard of this Trev |

Our late contributor Karen Orton (sadly missed) was an expert at recording video on Compact Cassette, along with any other unsuitable medium you could think of.

There was a US patent filed by Messrs Heidt and Wickstead dated April 23rd 1991, entitled Apparatus For Storing Video Signals On Audio Cassette.

As far as I can recall, it took a while to use Compact Cassettes at any speed different from 1 7/8 ths of an inch (oh how I wish they started with 32 inches per second). Once the patents ran out...

I recall reading about SSTV- Slow Scan Television. Don't know much about it, but recall reading the images could be recorded on standard Compact Cassette.

Yes. That would be PXL-2000 toy camcorder by Fisher Price. The 8-bit Guy did a review on this a while ago:
