Yellow goo?
I was just wandeing. what exactly is the wiring inside my Alba model C covered in?
I dont think it's wax, since it's too soft. It's kind of like grease but has no smell. Both sillicon and "old style" (dont know what it's based on) grease have distinctive smells. Alot of joints are covered in this stuff. I think it must be original because alot of the old cloth insulated wieres are soaked in it. Can anyone enlighten me on this? Is it suppsoed to be there or has it leaked out of soemthign? what exactly is it's purpose? I'v seen hot glue or wax being used to immobilise tuned coils and stuff, but this seems alot softer than wax at room temp. any ideas? Thanks. |

Re: Yellow goo?
Hello,
The set may well have been used in a cafe or take away establishment or maybe just in a domestic kitchen. I have seen this before with T.V. sets were the grease is literally dropping in 'gooplets' from the chassis. Regards, JOHN. |
