How To Make Headphones BBC4 16/4/20
This was the third in a series of programs by Designer Zoe Laughlin. She pulls apart and makes her own version of a Trainer and a Toothbrush-lots of plastic technology but I didn't really take much notice until it reached headphones.
That episode begins at the [really great] Amberly Chalk Pit Museum with a potted history given by a chap from Milwakee, who comes up with a number of American pioneers but it's interesting non-the-less and the point is made that early Broadcasting, pre-Wireless/Radio, was via landlines [a bit like Bairds Colour TV in 1936 sent to cinemas courtesy of the GPO]. Zoe disassembles the current technology and then winds a coil using a Potter's Wheel to produce her own version and that's definitely not the end of it. Still on the I-Player!
