Default British National Radio & Electronics School Course!

Hi!

A lucky catch and a holiday refund enabled me to buy a full set of 38 Course Bookworks for the B.N.R.E.S. Home Electronics Teaching Course, the one that you built that "Toy" Oscilloscope from that was advertised in all the Electronics Magazines!

The Oscilloscopes themselves regularly appear for sale in partly or fully built form, but the rest of the course Components and books practically never, so I intend to rectify this!

The course books will be offered either direct download here or from my Dropbox, and if anybody wants to retry the Course Experiments, I'll provide an up–to–date list of things to buy or collect together from existing collections!

Watch this space!

Chris Williams

PS!

If anybody has the construction book for the valved 1960s oscilloscope, could they please scan it and upload please? I am given to understand the course I've just acquired is the later 1970s/1980s one!

Always saw the adverts. Every month, every magazine.

Never knew anyone rich enough to take it up.

They always seemed a bit hokey, but if there are quantities of those scopes out there, then they must have found people.

Hi!

Just out of curiousity, does anyone know what this course would have cost?

I remember you could send for a "course prospectus" in every advert., presumably this would have stated the price and monthly terms? I certainly have never seen one!

PS!

I've got a Canon All–In–One and a brand new Epson All In One ready to scan the Course Books when they arrive, and if they don't come with the Oscilloscope Circuit, I'll be writing and issuing documents/diagrams on the solid state one I got from Member Bryan from Brightlingsea, to the same quality as the CRB3!

PPS!

A perusal of all the American magazines "e.g., ("Radio Electronics") on A.R.H. shows many U.S. firms did the same, some of which went as far as teaching you how to build your own radios, hi–fis, even a colour TV., and like our courses, nothing of them seems to have survived or get posted!

Hi!

In the meantime, whilst I'm waiting for my course books to be delivered, I've found the original master circuit diagram for the B.N.R.E.S Mk II transistorised oscilloscope, I'll get busy on drawing it out for everyone – the original is very difficult to read posted "as is" and is over 6MB even at that!
