Re: Valve amplifier build
The fact that EF86s aren't on RS's list doesn't mean they're not in production. Watford valves will sell you a new Russian one https://www.watfordvalves.com/produc...il.asp?id=2168. And there are plenty of the late-production Russian 'cheese-grater' shield ones still around. Tube Amp Doctor have them for just €12.50 inc VAT https://www.tubeampdoctor.com/en/ef8...nos-svetlana-c and though they're in Germany the shipping cost isn't too bad. I suspect they weren't made for period radios either .
Cheers, GJ

Re: Valve amplifier build
Cricklewood electronics have a decent range of valves, some new, others NOS; also valveholders. I have no connection with the firm but have found them to be reliable.
