Where's the like button?

My first ever redundancy was due to a doomsday project. Two years were spent discussing it to death, then by the time it started you're behind the competition. Then it also had to drop out a sub product on the way (that idea was then dropped *after* all the dual purpose design work had been done).

The original Bush spec could have easily been a family of players then the other members were dropped.

Or some manager may have said 'the Pye black box has push-pull, so should we'.

Could also be the designer wanted to play with push-pull amps as a pet project whilst the company pays, I've seen this before.

Distortion and tweeter fitted, check out the valve data for distortion figures for single ended versus push pull for all the popular valves back then, speaks volumes...

In fact this same amplifier was used, and to much better effect, in the more ambitious MURPHY metal stand mounted version which used two speakers. One was a Celestion 8"x 6" and the other a conventional tweeter.

Fair point - the wider you open the window, the more flies in!

Tweeter = "Hifi"...."Hifi" = less distortion, it's not rocket science as to what their aims were.
