Two Marconi Stations Yesterday and tonight.
Julia Bradbury called in at the one built on the Lizard last night [ITV "Cornwall and Devon Walks" 8pm]. It wasn't flagged up anywhere and followed the usual Pasty tales! The Curator didn't seem to know much but it was a very short piece.
Today P2 of "Adrian Dunbar's Coastal Ireland" didn't look too gripping but the Guardian G2 refers to a visit at the site of Marconi's first commercial message transmission. CH5 8pm! Dave W |

Re: Two Marconi Stations Yesterday and tonight.
I’m a volunteer at the museum, Anne does actually know her stuff but the time given was very short and the presenter went glassy eyed very quickly.
If you are ever down this way it’s worth a visit, along with Poldhu which post dates Bass Point |

Re: Two Marconi Stations Yesterday and tonight.
Yes I thought that might be the case Tim-apologies to your colleague. Do you have any info re the Newhaven Station that was in operation here at East Sussex circa 1909. It's interesting how the production team always seems get a bit jokey, abrupt and uncomfortable in the editing when it's something electrical. Pasties are much easier to "grasp" apparently.
The Northern Ireland footage was very interesting visually but the presenter was very flat. As he is when playing a senior police officer! Jed Mercurio's most realistic series [Bodies] is hardly ever mentioned. Dave W |
