Default Grundig Transistor 17 - Ocean Boy 204?? Value?

Hi all

I hope this post isn't against the rules so here goes.......My uncle recently passed and amongst his possessions is a Grundig Transistor 17.

It looks to be missing the battery pack and is need of a new home. It comes with its case. I appreciate it can only be sold as spares or repairs as there is no cable with it so I have no means of testing it.

Please can someone advise on a fair price for it so that it can be advertised on this site?

All money received is going towards funeral costs.

Many thanks

David

I'm not familiar with the model but I think it's just missing the mains module and it should still be possible to fit batteries if you want to test it. Even so it may well need some attention before it'll work properly.

No idea as to value I'm afraid.

The case is a nice period accessory.

I'd say an asking price of £15-£20 on the pair wouldn't be outrageous.

These big grundigs always make good money, there are always buyers for them. I have never found a cheap 1 yet, they are always way out of my price range. Your best bet to make good money is to stick it straight on ebay.

Many thanks for your time people. Not looking to ask extortionate money. Just after a new home for it somewhere that it can be appreciated and working again. David

You will probably get the best price for it if you sell it on eBay rather than here. These are fairly rare sets, and if two collectors with deep pockets both decide they want it then it might do very well. These early Ocean Boys are really the ancestors of the Grundig Satellit models which have a keen following.
