My post above is not correct, I realise now that there is no hole in the mystery part for mounting to heatsink so it is not part I thought it was in the photos. From the photo in Post 1 I thought it was flat but now assume it must have curved back so must be the part designated as IC262 referenced by Radio Wrangler.

I think the chances of finding a schematic are pretty slim. Probably the only way to solve the mystery is to partially sketch out the circuit so that someone might be able to deduce the nature of the component.

Maybe mailing Neostar could help? See: https://www.neostar-electronics.co.u...ontact_Us.html

I would mail them your pictures too and point out that the suspect part is "IC262". Maybe they can even send you the complete circuit board.

Hi I've done that twice and still no reply after over a week seems they are only interested in selling the junk.

I found this reference https://www.transistormosfet.com/tra...?search=MC1033 to MC1033 but this is an SOT-89 package.

How many outputs are there? Can you work out roughly what the voltages should be?

It might be easier powering it from a single wall-wart type supply and abandoning the inbuilt SMPS altogether.

My initial guess was that it's a three-terminal low power regulator, but I hadn't realised there was so much going on under the board!. If so the 33 may refer to its nominal output voltage in stand-alone mode.

See attached for a similar device family.

I'd say the ic circuit ref. clinches it. I've seen many 3-leg ic's on far-eastern stuff marked as EBC.

I'm confused. There's apparently no mains reservoir capacitor and no chopper transformer. But it does look like a switch mode circuit of a sort. Is the mains transformer just that? If so what's all the circuitry on the 'hot' side of the circuit doing?
