Default Railway clock

Hi all, I saw this in this morning's Southland Times and know there's some who are into clocks on here, so thought it might interest.

Looks very much like the old Wellington Station platform clocks from many years ago.

Nice to see some are being looked after.

Gent’s Pulsynetic system?

I remember these in British Rail days. A master clock (usually located in the railway telephone system’s local exchange) sends out pulses every 30 seconds to a large number of slave clocks (on major stations) all connected in series, which would move their minute hands on in sync with the master clock’s pulses. All clocks in local railway offices would also be connected.

The PostOffice Radio Station at Dorchester had this very same system; a naster clock in the Executive Engineer's office sending pulses to the slave displays in the rest of the building.
I had the task of attemting the repair to a large pulse clock at the old football ground in Weymouth many years ago but it was not at fault, the master clock was lost in the move from the old ground to the new ground.
Nobody owned up to the loss of it.
