Default Hinge & Bracket G8 licence?

Just seen a pic on the net of a Dual Standard Telefunken TV, the displayed program was the Comedy Drag Duo of Hinge and Bracket, this reminded me, I am right in recalling one of them was Licensed as G8
Any one remember the call sign ? Any one have a QSO with them ?

I recall him, Patrick Fyffe, divulging his Amateur Radio interest and call sign when interviewed by Roy Plumley on Desert Island Discs.
Unfortunately that episode is not on the net.

Telefunken dual standard? don’t think so unless it is a 625/819 line set

Could be Decca Bradford clone but this was single standard 625 line

Hi Ken,

Spent a couple of lazy hours a few days ago going through all the G8s in
an old 1980s callbook, but no Fyffes in there. And only one Logan - but the
wrong initial.

Of course, there were many G8s who were 'callsign withheld', and perhaps
he was one of those, - being in the public eye at the time.

There is only one callsign in QRZ for the UK with the name Fyffe but
the wrong initial. However there is a Logan with the correct initial but
with a G0A-- callsign. If it was him, perhaps he took the CW in the mid 80's!

Kind regards
Dave

Dave757,
perhaps it was the Logan half of the Duo ? I could be wrong, Fyffe was originally a Hairdresser, not many hairdressers in the Amateur Radio friturnity , I would hazard a guess
Kan_Turk The pic I found of the Telefunken on youtube, was not a Decca Bradford Clone, I am familiar with them, it was someones restoration project, I assume being fed with a signal from a video, as they have not been on the telly for years.
It stated Dual Standard in the description, I have forgotten now, was 819 the SECAM Line freq ? as I must admit it didn't look like a late 60`s TV, and the displayed video suggested that it was compatible for a video o/p, no line pulling or jitter at the top of the pic. Could be Dual standard but not 405/625 as I assumed.

Logan is cited as working as a computer programmer in London which would suggest some level of technical capability. Maybe not a lot but probably more than a hairdresser!

Difficult to make assumptions about the professions of radio amateurs. I've met vicars, actors, an undertaker and a king.

The human race reserves the right to surprise you.

Indeed. My coal man spotted my 80 metre dipole and this was the cue for a discussion about amateur radio. He'd come into the hobby via CB and had a lot of technical knowledge.

Perhaps he`s now F ?
I know the Amateur Radio has people from various professions, but in general in the past, I believe the majority had a background in Electronic/ Electrical Engineering, at least the ones I meet did. Excluding, the late Sir Brian Rix.

You could always enquire on the official Hinge and bracket website as there is a contact email address on their site.
We have an old Vinyl LP of some of their recordings somewhere which belonged to my father which we used to listen to as children .

I suspect that George Logan has retired now, he must be in his 80's. His B&B was only a few km. from where I live in the Limousin
