Default Westclox "moonbeam" electric alarm clock

My clock-repairer wouldn't touch it because it's electric, so I was directed here!
The alarm-light flashes at the set time, but, instead of the buzzer sounding after a few minutes, and the light going off, the light continues to flash and the buzzer doesn't sound...
Does anyone know what the cause of this fault might be, and who should be able to fix it - a clock repairer or an electrician?? Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I do remember these being sold in the 70s with the strapline "Who can sleep with the blinking light on?". The idea was that they would wake you up gently.

There are a number of members interested in electric clocks who may be able to advise you. It may just be a matter of lubricating the mechanism - these weren't wholly electronic.

Hi and welcome.

If all else fails and nobody on here is nearer, you could post it to me via a PM.

A couple of points, though:
  • An electrician per se won't be able to repair the clock and might very well damage it.
  • So much for your clock repairer!
  • Ignore anyone trying to convert it to a low voltage.

I'd say 'avoid like the plague' anyone suggesting conversion to a low voltage; especially if it involves a Chinese power-pack continuously connected to the mains!

Thank you All.
I will contact Mike, in due course.
My clock-man is very good with "clockwork", but the sight of electrical cable brought him out in a sweat!

Better to know your limits than blunder about.
