Default AC/HL Retiring as Moderator

After 7 years Bill (AC/HL) has decided to retire from moderator duties.

We thank him for all his work to keep the place running smoothly, and also recently for helping our two new mods settle into the role.

Hopefully he now has more time to finish all those unfinished projects.

Paul and the mod team.

I would like to thank Bill for all his support.

Look forward to seeing him post some of his projects here.

I have certainly noticed the extra workload

Thanks Bill.

Cheers

I met Bill a couple of years ago and found him a thoroughly likeable gent. He's done a lot of work for the forum and done it effectively, with a gentle hand and with a touch of humour. Thanks for everything, Bill, and I hope we keep in touch.

I imagine that a moderators job is a very time consuming one so I would like to thank Bill for doing it for seven years and helping to keep a forum I enjoy almost every day going.

Regards,

Ken.

Bill, you have been unfailingly helpful and clear in your moderation. Thank you for that serious stint as a mod.

Yes I was just about to say much the same as Nick. I would venture to suggest that you and others, set a more relaxed but still highly efficient standard that continues. Many thanks!

Thanks for the good wishes. You can't please all of the people all of the time as they say, but I did try to be consistent and true to the forum ideals, as we all do.

Congratulations and thanks for making this such a welcoming corner of the Infobahn. I think you've settled the new mods in very well, judging by their contributions.

Like Pamphonica, I would like to know where to get the round tuit you've obviously acquired...

Perhaps there should be a forum carriage clock that is engraved with the names of former moderators upon their retirement.

Good luck with your extra time Bill!

As a regular forum user, I’ve found your moderating and comments very tactful and inoffensive. It’s a gentle balancing act I guess, but you’ve carried out this difficult task with aplomb!

Cheers.

Thanks for all your contributions to the forum, Bill, and I hope you enjoy the extra time at your disposal now.

Excellent moderation is one of the hallmarks of this site, and helps to keep it a place of great knowledge and skill-sharing within a respectful, thoughtful environment.

I certainly appreciate all the efforts of the moderators and the time you have given so generously.

All the very best to you, Bill. As you're only a few miles down the hill we might see you sometime.

An excellent few years of moderation

Fair and consistent moderation is what makes this forum such a valuable asset. I frequent other sites where more often as not a post veers totally off topic within a handful of posts, much to the irritation of the original poster.

Apart from being a fair moderator Bill has also shown himself to be a generous and helpful member of our community. Thank you Bill and enjoy your "retirement".

The moderators' job is largely a thankless one, I'm afraid. So here's a chance to put that (at least a little bit) right.

THANK YOU BILL !

And all the best,

Graeme

Yes it must be a thankless task but you left a mark. probably caused by the character building journey of your generation, let's hope that mark will not rub out in the future.
