I suspect that is also true of the 'rubber' parts in vintage electronics.

There are also elastomers that will withstand mineral oils (and which may well be attacked by brake fluid).

Strangely enough, 98% IPA will not dissolve sugar - diluted with water it will! SWMBO won't drink her coffee anywhere near her computer keyboard now!

Dettol is a good disinfectant - even when diluted.
