Default Avo 8 meter labels

What does the label 8V on the battery compartment and on the outside mean.
It is fitted with a standard 15V battery.

The Avo 8 went through a major redesign, Avo 8, 8/II and 8/III are early, 8/IV is a crossover into a more modern design, 8/V onwards are radically different from the earlies both internally and externally. Which mark of Model 8 do you have there?

From the marking 8V I would assume an 8V, mark five. Which mark five is the question.

As merlinmaxwell said, the 8V refers to the Mk of the Model 8 in question.
i.e. the 8V tells you it's a Model 8 Mk V (or Mk 5 in English numerals).

The Model 8 Mk VI ( Mk 6 ) can also be found with the same Style Label, but
obviously says 8VI.

The Model 8 Mk VII ( Mk 7 ) although almost identical in appearence, has a
different Label Style.

If your Lucky, after the 8V you will often find a Date Code, although many
Mk V's don't have this.
Before the 8V you will find the actual serial Number.
