Re: Philco Radio
Very nice. Any idea of the price (not that I'm in the running to get it)?

Re: Philco Radio
That's a lot, but the cabinet does look to be in superb, unrestored condition.

Re: Philco Radio
I've always found radios in antique / junk shops to be way over-priced, unless of course someone has put the hours in to electrically restore it. Then it might be the right price.
I see a few old portables at car boot sales. Again over-priced. I recall one occasion I was examining one of these when the seller interjected 'genuine antique, love'. 'Hmmm' I said, 'I wasn't aware they had CE marks back in 1964'. Seller turns to another prospective customer |

Re: Philco Radio
That seems a perfectly reasonable price given the condition. It should scrub up very well.

Re: Philco Radio
That's a lovely radio. I'd be very pleased to find a radio like that at that price (I never do )
Is that black PVC tape holding speaker cloth in place? |

Re: Philco Radio
Thanks Karen, Paul , it is a nice set, I find it difficult to price these things , as You said Karen price seems to vary on where you look ,to who you talk too. some of the price's you see are crazy .. and yes that is tape holding the speaker cloth in place , the cloth is in very good condition with a little work it should come up lovely . thanks again guys you are always very helpful ..is there a rough guide for pricing vintage radio? as it would be very helpful , I think we all know when we get a bargain , it's the fair price I think is a bit harder

Re: Philco Radio
It obviously depends on condition, and there are a few particularly desirable models, but most woodies in good original condition are worth £10-£20 if postwar, and £30-£80 if prewar.
