Re: Sovjet color tv set Raduga
Hi
As usual for a Russian set it looks far older than its years! The valves look Western European - what are they? Certainly that looks like a convertional (to us) PL/PY line output stage, though what I take to be the frame output looks odd.... Glyn. |

Re: Sovjet color tv set Raduga
Yes - it looks to me like a cross between the Bush CTV25 (Later Version) and a Thorn 2000.
Cheers, Steve P.

Re: Sovjet color tv set Raduga
Hi Mike, hi Glyn,
you can download the schematics for the Raduga here http://www.raupenhaus.de/down/getdow...=Raduga706.zip Unfortunately, the documentation is German, and the designations in the schematics are Russian. But I think most of it is self-explaining. This tv set is wellknown for its fire-hazards. The L.O.P.T. caught fire, the transductor often burned up, and the mains transformer usually gets fire. I have a complete list of parts and circuits, which are fire-risky. Walter Fink, another collector, who has picked up the set, has replaced the E.H.T. coil from the flyback with a Philips K6-coil. I have replaced the SECAM delay line which was bad. You see the difference on the photos with the test pattern (before and after replacing the delay line). The SECAM signal is provided by a French PAL SECAM transcodeur. Here are some more photos: http://bs.cyty.com/menschen/e-etzold.../Raduga_13.jpg http://bs.cyty.com/menschen/e-etzold.../Raduga_14.jpg http://bs.cyty.com/menschen/e-etzold.../Raduga_15.jpg http://bs.cyty.com/menschen/e-etzold.../Raduga_16.jpg http://bs.cyty.com/menschen/e-etzold.../Raduga_17.jpg http://bs.cyty.com/menschen/e-etzold.../Raduga_18.jpg http://bs.cyty.com/menschen/e-etzold.../Raduga_19.jpg http://bs.cyty.com/menschen/e-etzold.../Raduga_20.jpg http://bs.cyty.com/menschen/e-etzold.../Raduga_21.jpg http://bs.cyty.com/menschen/e-etzold.../Raduga_22.jpg http://bs.cyty.com/menschen/e-etzold.../Raduga_23.jpg http://bs.cyty.com/menschen/e-etzold.../Raduga_24.jpg Kind regards, Eckhard |

Re: Sovjet color tv set Raduga
Is that a 23" tube Eckhard? That 59ЛМ3Ц looks a bit weird. Look at the size of that mains transformer, and 3 aerial inputs too. Wow - what a set.
From Mike.

Re: Sovjet color tv set Raduga
Mike: it is the 59LK3Z. This is the delta gun kinescope (the Russian word is the same than the American expression).
Darius has told me that threads about foreign tv sets are not allowed in this forum. I do not know what the moderator's opinion is in this case here. But the best thing is to wait for a moderator's decision before we continue with this thread. Kind regards, Eckhard |

Hi Eckhard,
Quote:
These forums are primarily for BRITISH vintage radio equipment. Although you may be able to get help with equipment from other countries, you may do better to post these requests in a forum based in the relevant country. From the forum rules: Rule B10: This forum is primarily for the discussion of equipment that was manufactured or originally sold in the UK. Discussion of non-UK equipment is welcome but may be more appropriate to forums based in the relevant country. The moderators may use their discretion to limit excessive discussion of non-UK equipment. This is really just advice that requests for help and assistance for non-UK equipment may be better off elsewhere. We certainly don't mind occasional threads about equipment few of us are likely to have encountered before, it makes a change to see something a bit different Please, do carry on. That's an interesting set. Cheers, Kat |

Re: Sovjet color tv set Raduga
Hear, hear, I agree with the (I hope discretionary) rule: but it's nice to see this thread which is enlightening in many ways, we get plenty of threads about (equally interesting) soviet radios: Of course these are more likely to have been imported.
Fascinating sets though, I particularly like the valve holders, very nice. Also it looks from the pictures like its a very linear and nicely converged picture. Wish I could get running tracks to look that straight on all my sets! Dom |

Re: Sovjet color tv set Raduga
That set is superb! I can't believe for a set that was made in 1977 that it uses what looks like a thermionic EHT rect and focus diode!
I wish the brits made fancy looking sets like that, I really do like this sort of thing. Cheers Lee

a) the cost, remember the Philips G11 was approx the same amount in £'s as the Philips G6 a decade earlier, in that decade just about everything went up 2 or 3 times as much. b) Safety, its already been mentioned that these sets present a fire hazard because of its design. |

Re: Sovjet color tv set Raduga
The Rubin 401 was briefly displayed in the UK, though as a SECAM receiver I think this was more of a curiosity than a serious sales proposition. There is a picture in a late 60s Television magazine, I'll try to scan the article in later.

Re: Sovjet color tv set Raduga
Here it is, I don't have a scanner so I took a photograph instead. If you squint and stand on your head you can just about read it.
the set looks nice, a bit like an early G6 seen through the bottom of a beer glass. |

Re: Sovjet color tv set Raduga
Hello,
here are some more photos of the Rubin 401: http://rw6ase.narod.ru/r/rubin/rubin401.html In the next weeks I will get a Rubin 401. The set is in good condition but is missing it's back. If there is interest here, I will post photos when I have picked up the set. Kind regards, Eckhard |
