Smile TV Mask Paint

Hi all
I want to paint a couple of rubber masks on my Bush TVs, does anyone on the forum know the original colour Bush used and also what paint was used?

I could try a plastic enhanced emu paint or an acrylic paint; I don't want to use ordinary emu paint as this will soon crack on an unstable substrate, and oil based paints are out as they will attack the rubber.

Ideally I want to be able to spray the finish, any ideas anyone?

regards Den

Hi Den try FROST at www.frost.co.uk they have all sorts of specialised rubberised paints and coatings mainly for the vintage car business but I guess something will probably be adaptable. HTH

Wink Re: Tv Mask Paint

Hello Dennis,
I have just sprayed a TV62 with a water based paint obtained from Trago Mills.
The brand name is called "Signature" and the colour name is "AYTHORPE".
The wife and i spent a lot of time looking at the beige colours and came up with that one.
Have attached a picture for you to look at.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Keith.

Hi Keith
Sorry for delay in replying as I was away, your resprayed mask looks really smart, how many coats did it need ?
Do you think the paint will last a reasonable time ?
What preparation did you carry out ? (i e was your old paint flaking?) Sorry for the inquisition !!

regards den
