Re: My first telly TV22
A quick question: when you use the diode(s), do you still get changes in image size with brightness?

Re: My first telly TV22
The missing part, the cam follower needs to be made from brass or aluminium, not steel.
I know that I have some spare TV22 focus units, but probably only at my parents house, so I can't get to them at the moment. I will have a quick look around here though. Cheers Andy

Re: My first telly TV22
I think the brightness and contrast are now behaving as I would expect and don’t affect the image size

Re: My first telly TV22
Diodes out , EY51 back in and it works just fine. The brightness still affects the size a bit but nothing like it did . And it actually functions as a brightness control now.

The size dependence on brightness is normal, provided it is not excessive. If you adjust the contrast to enable viewing in a well-lit room, like with a more modern set, you will probably get more changes with brightness. Adjusting the contrast to a lower position usually minimises this issue. The TV22 is comparatively less bright than anything from the 60s or 70s. So even though the change with brightness can be indicative of a worn EY51, one should resist the temptation of getting the contrast too high up, which of course will give you a brighter image, but you see changes whenever an image goes from dark to bright and vice-versa, including a loss of sharp focus. Judging from your image, your line sync is rock solid. It would be great to see a closeup of the raster. I think your camera lens may need some cleaning to remove the glow. Otherwise the picture is fantastic. |

Re: My first telly TV22
I have another question: what do you think was the most important change that resulted in a smaller dependence of image size on brightness?

Re: My first telly TV22
Realising that the focus magnet was not working is what solved it, the set is pretty much back to how it was when I first switched on , apart from fixing the brightness pot and a bit of twiddling

Re: My first telly TV22
Thanks for all the help and interest from everybody.
I guess next step is to put it back in the case and hook up something to watch on it. |

Re: My first telly TV22
I doubt that you will see the vertical lines clearly on the last grating even with optimal focus. It's excellent as it is and you've done a great job.
