Hi Edward, its a Ferguson 3026, not 2026

Yes, I only placed the weight on the tonearm briefly and using a record I'm not particularly fond of.

Bizarrely, the player behaved absolutely fine all evening yesterday *without* me adding any extra weight to the tonearm.

I'll try and get a photo uploaded later tonight.

Thanks. Your player (if not altered) should have a BSR MA65 autochanger and should track well at 4.5 to 5 grams. Do you have a stylus pressure gauge?

Hi Edward, thanks for this information. I don't have a pressure gauge; however, in a twist of unlikely events the record player is now consistently working well [without adding extra weight to the tonearm]. Good clear tone, plenty of volume, tracks nicely.

I suspect there may have been a poor connection with one of the cartridge wires, or a slightly tarnished contact, which I've somehow inadvertently resolved when I've been fiddling around with it.
