Garrard 2025TC speed problems
The idler wheel appears to be way out of alignment with the drive spindle - eg - to get 33rpm it is set to 75rpm! I can't see any way of adjusting the alignment. Hopefully that's just me being dim - advice very welcome.
Roger

Re: Garrard 2025TC speed problems
I expect it is the usual problem of the motor being too low due to the grommets sagging.

It looks Asif the idler wheel is not parallel to the motor pulley, the arm on which the idler wheel is mounted is twisted out of true ?

Hi Roj. There is a spring steel adjuster on the part in your first picture.
You slide it up or down to make the wheel line up with the centre of the pulley step. Having said that, in the second picture it looks as though the pulley bracket may be bent upwards. If you take the wheel off you will be able to see if it's straight or not. David. |

Re: Garrard 2025TC speed problems
I have seen this before, I always assumed they'd been dropped or bent in transit, on the ones I've had I've carefully bent it back into position (so the wheel should be totally horizontal) and nothing ever snapped and it was ok thereafter.

Re: Garrard 2025TC speed problems
Bent bracket often caused by just pushing the turntable down without gently lowering and turning to allow the idler wheel to slip underneath.

Thank you chaps. I think the bent bracket is an optical illusion - it looks quite square in the flesh. I shall investigate David's suggestion soon as poss.

Re: Garrard 2025TC speed problems
Spot on David - the spring adjuster is quite weak, but just about holding. Also - yes the bracket was a little bit bent - how that happened is a mystery - it's not at all feeble. All lined up now, but a bit slow at all speeds - I guess it's just worn out.

Re: Garrard 2025TC speed problems
That could be lubrication of both motor AND idler wheel. Also make sure the idler is not slipping on the motor pulley.
