Peter triumphs again! Here's the image from Jonz site with the gamma raised to show the two knobs. Although the veneer panel is differently shaded on this example, the veneer border positions are correct. Well done!

And the same type of set looks to have been featured in the 1940 film Band Waggon (as post 96 on this thread).

Probably not the same example though, since the two film's production companies were different.

Here's my Uncle's TV, a Philips I think, taken at Boxing day (or the day after) in 1963 when I was a schoolboy, experimenting with time exposures on colour film in my newly-acquired 35mm camera. The table was about to be laid for tea. No idea what the programme was.
