Default Stylus question!

Last year I restored a Bush SPR31D and one of the issues was a faulty cartridge, I found a replacement in a box of spares a BSR that fitted perfectly and since then it's been used a lot and given a great deal of pleasure.
I must have played many hundreds of sides so I've decided to replace the stylus. Removing it, it shows a Number printed on the tag ST9D. On line I've notice identical looking Styli with other numbers, will any of these do or do I have to get a ST9D again?
Thanks.

ST8, ST9 and ST10 are all the same fit. ST8 is LP/78 and ST10 is LP/LP as far as I know. ST23 is also the same fit but only one tip (LP), not flip-over. Hope this helps.

The plastic shanked ST8 has a low compliance, ST12 or higher might be better.

The plastic shanked ones ST8 etc. are for the high output cartridges i.e. X5H, the metal shanked ones ST12 etc. for the medium output i.e. X5M.

I've just taken out the cartridge to see what it is, and it's a X5M.

The BSR X5M will be a very god macth to your SRP31D. You will need the BSR ST12 stylus, but be aware that there are different tip types on the ST12 - and above - BSR ST range.

Thank you Edward
This is a bit of a minefield! "but be aware that there are different tip types on the ST12" why should this be something to be aware of?

The X5M will use ST12, ST14, ST15, ST19, ST22. ST19 and ST22 are single LP tips. ST12, 14 and 15 are flip over (either LP/78 or LP/LP).

Just to be pendantic. ST12, 14 have 78 and LP tips. ST15 is dual LP/LP, so best value of you have no 78s.

Thanks Ben, I've just ordered a ST15 as it's LPs I'll be mainly playing, very easy to change the stylus back to the old one if I decide on 78's.
