Default Philips BIF 505A

Hi I have just got a Philips BIF505A RADIO IN FOR RESTORATION the owner has already arranged for some one to french polish it when repaired, it’s very old I have no output but the dial bulb light up but there is no heaters to the valves. I have not gone much further as I would like some data if anyone has any please. Or I will be spending a lot of time as I like a challenge but a clue before I start would be nice.

Thanks in advance
Stephen

That model is certainly a new one to me.... and I can't find any information on the internet regarding this model.
Have you any pictures of the set and its interior, you could upload ?

It's Philips Ireland (IF = Irish Freestate). Service data on the Irish models is thin on the ground. Some of them are related to UK models, but the Irish subsidiary had a lot of freedom to go its own way.

Start with the valve lineup and go on from there. Many of the 1950s Philips designs are very similar electrically.

Well I've learnt something new today !

Could it just be the 'Irish Free State' built version of the BX505A ? (it's just a thought)
