Default TVs & Radios In Ready Steady Go!

The book Ready Steady Go! by Chris Tarrant has a few pictures of radios & TVs which might be of interest.

The last picture I think is an early video jukebox, which played films specially shot to accompany the song. I think these were deliberately had a non standard sound stripe so they coudn't be used on standard projectors.

I brought this subject (picture 4) up in March this year. If you Google scopitone, it was a French idea which I saw in Butlins in the sixties.

Ekco TMB272. Ferranti 17T6 [Not sure about model number] Ferranti 17T2/3. and the last one I think is a stage prop. Just my thought. The radio gram is a FERGUSON. John.

Looks like Tommy Steele is listening to a Pye Fenman Mk2 Radiogram. Maybe even the recording version-Demo's? Oh hang on, I didn't spot that John had already identified the RG as a Ferguson.
He should know! It looks very similar to the Pye Mk2 I have in the North but is probably very much lighter.

Yes! I really should have got this right especially as I have a V214 lurking under the bench! J.

Thanks for the feedback, I remember the Scopitone being mentioned a while back.

I've got another picture here I missed off earlier:

Hi,
For a moment I thought that it was a KB radiogram similar to mine. Oops!
Cheers, Pete.

I was thinking Joe Brown? Can the OP confirm either way?

I'd say it's Tommy Steele but they both relied on the "cheeky grin" although Joe Brown had the stiffer "brush" hairstyle, as I recall. Early examples of [relatively] disturbing rock and roll characters being subsumed into the rather bland world of "show business"! Unlike, say, the Rolling Stones who refused to go on the roundabout at the end of Sunday Night At The London Palladium.

My brother was a fan of Tommy but I went wild with Lonnie Donegan, although, ironically, he was very much a conservative individual [with a small c] and more show business than most wearing a Tuxedo

There may well be a few RG's that look similar Pete. My Fenman has a similar dial and pale yellow wood work around it but few will be as surprisingly heavy for it's size It reminds me of an Eavestaff mini-piano that I once had!

I'd be surprised if Richard can confirm anything from a b+w photo red16 although he has an extensive knowledge of records and their labels in particular! John [HCS] would probably have worked on the RG in the photo more than once, so I'll go with his expert opinion.

The control Knobs are the clue and the tuning scale. Unfortunately I dumped many manuals around 1975 and the remaining Ferguson grams don't include this model. I could be wrong of course. Cheers, John.

Click on the image for details:

And mods permitting for ID purposes only, here's one fitted with a later record deck:

And from a Curry's advert on this web page a Ferguson 375RG would be a good contender:

Well done on the research, happy to concede it’s Tommy Steele.

.. and definitely a Ferguson radiogram as suggested by John. I owned the same model some years ago.
