Default Apple extended keyboard II

Hello, with the 8200/120 computer i was given days ago, i received this fantastic extended keyboard II made in 1989.

I will be very grateful if you could tell me hoy to clean it properly, i mean to recover the original color, i think using hydrogen peroxide ti de-yellow it, but not sure how to do it.

Also, i will be very grateful as well if you could tell me for what use is design that plastic part on both sides (see last photo)

Using chemicals to bleach plastics back to their original colours (a process commonly referred to as "Retrobright-ing") is certainly possible (although I haven't attempted it myself).

You may find more knowledgeable people on a forum specifically for old Macs - I'm a member of the 68K Macintosh Liberation Army (which, despite the name, covers all manner of Macs, including 68k, PowerPC, and Intel, along with other Apple computers and accessories). I've always found them extremely helpful and knowledgeable.

This is the website for Retrobright : http://www.retr0bright.com/

I'm going to try it this week, on an old bit of tat, not a 'valuable' piece !

Thanks, I will take a look.

I took apart the keyboard, clean every piece with soap and water and replace 2 pads under the space bar.

A lot of the vintage computer guys here do retrobrighting - I've never tried, but there are frequent success stories in the NZ Vintage Computing group on Facebook. Old Amigas commonly seem to respond well, although there are risks of blotchiness.

Yes that's a good question as I would like to bring my old apple back to looking more like new.
