Yes, perhaps that has to be the way to go though it would move many purchases beyond economic reach. I glanced just now at a listing of a valved Transoceanic to see the current GSP charge to the UK, it was £37: I've known US booksellers demand more than that for shipping a 1kg book, such is the purchasing power of sending items by the containerload rather than as individual shipments. No use at all of course if the item gets rejected.

I'd avoid GSP next time, and tell the seller why, but will try to avoid eBay if possible. GSP has a number of issues, as have been alluded to, but this latest 'restricted' farce takes the biscuit.

On the plus side, this issue and eBay's high fees etc will hopefully enable competitors to grow. Oh, and pay some tax, eBay.
