Default BVWS Winter Bulletin

I guess there's no chance of receiving a winter bulletin before Christmas, even if it had been posted in time. That'll be a shame. It was always a good escape from the festivities.

I certainly have not given up yet in time for Christmas.

The last we (the committee) heard was that it had been sent for printing about two weeks ago, and it is the printers that also post it. I will ask Alex (the editor) for an update.

The Bulletins were posted by the printers 2nd class on 12th December (which was the last 2nd class posting date for Christmas delivery).

However with strikes on 9th, 11th, 14th and 15th as well as two more days just before Christmas, some backlogs and delays are inevitable. We all know that post is taking much longer than normal to arrive now.

Hopefully some of them will arrive in time for Christmas, but there are no guarantees and some may well not arrive until after Christmas.

Mine has arrived this morning, lots of interesting content to read over Christmas - but can I wait that long.

Please remember to renew your membership if necessary and also to vote for your favourite article of 2022 for the Pat Leggatt Award. Details are included with the Bulletin, and you can do them both online:

Membership renewals: https://membership.bvws.org.uk/
Pat Leggatt Award voting: https://vote.bvws.org.uk/

As requested in From The Chair, please renew online and pay by credit/debit card if possible as that is the least work for the membership secretary and lowest processing fees for the BVWS. However PayPal (online) and cheque (by post) are still accepted.

You can of course hold off voting until you have read this bulletin as the closing date is 31st January 2023.

Hmm. Does membership run for one year from the date of joining, or from 1 January?

The overall Royal Mail delays and strikes are off topic for this thread and for the whole forum. Please stick to the thread subject. One post edited.

1st January. Having different renewal dates throughout the year would be a nightmare for the membership secretary to manage.

If you joined part way through the year you should have received the previous Bulletins for that year (if not contact the membership secretary).

The Bulletin reached darkest Cumbria this morning. As my astronomy magazine arrived yesterday, I now have plenty of bedtime reading for the next few nights.
