Default some black inlay missing

On my HMV 482 wood case, i've got a couple of inches of black inlay missing. I was thinking of usiny expoxy resin (dyed wih black cement dye), but read that this could shrink.

On the other hand, someone had suggested to use superglue, which would shows no sign of shrinkage.

Anyone have any thoughts or other suggestions ?

I'm not sure what your trying to repair, but I would suggest you start with something a little less permanent in case something goes wrong.

What about melting black wax crayon into the void?

Hello,

You can get 3.4 mm square ebony stringing - quite cheap but the postage is a bit much. Maybe someone has a bit lying around? Could easily be sanded down to 3 mm square.

you should attempt at replacing it with wood veneer if poss. Stringing is available , but is useually quite narrow ,or decorative . is it actually black ? if so you will need a very close grained wood , that you then have to dye . you can get small packs of veneer too .
