Default Good News Re: AM & FM

Just in case anyone missed it, OFCOM made various announcements concerning broadcasting mediums and frequencies this week. Among the information contained in a report in "The Times" (P62 Thurs 20th Oct) was the following:

"However, the regulator did not argue for a date in which existing AM and FM frequencies should be switched off, saying that the radio market was not yet mature"

Encouraging to read that it would seem we still have some while to enjoy genuine broadcasts on our old receivers (as opposed to converted/re-transmitted).

It looks as if it's finally dawning on the bureaucrats who run broadcasting that these frequency bands can't be used for anything else even if all the UK broadcasters shut down - lots of political pain for no financial gain.

Best regards, Paul
