It is looking nice - being slightly shorter is great as desk space is always an issue - a PCB mounted Video RCA socket is a great idea I think. But I suspect another IC width will not harm.
I never did run it on a different 5V reg it seems to work fine with the onboard one even with my homebuilt external OR commercial onboard expansion RAM... I will not need that with this...
