Default Re: Bodges

Thinking of hotel rooms, when I was acting as chauffeur taking our daughter around Universities when she was 18, we stayed in a hotel in Cardiff. Unfortunately the next room to mine must have had a fault with the bathroom extractor fan. It had clearly run full tilt for heaven knows how long, the bearings were shot and it was making a real racket.

Now I find it very difficult to sleep when there is a noise like that. However, I reasoned that the two rooms might be on the same breaker, so I took the lamp out of the socket above my bed, wrapped a teaspoon (from the courtesy coffee tray) in a towel, shoved it in the socket and turned it on. At which point - glorious silence! Slept like a baby.

Next morning of course the next door room occupants remonstrated with the management about no power. He reset the breaker, voicing confusion about why it could possibly have tripped, and Grrrrrrr-grrrrr-... the knackered fan started up again.

I can be a bit of an animal at times.
