Dismantling, cleaning, checking the solder joints and finally reassembling the tuner has proven well worthwhile. Guaranteed reliable operation now.
However, after the set warmed up a new fault manifested itself, no line lock. I was expecting the worst, a faulty line discriminator transformer perhaps,? The sort of thing you don't want to happen. Turned out to be a nice easy fix, the EB91 line flywheel discriminator valve was faulty. A replacement solved the problem.
How often do you ever have to replace an EB91?
