Not a bad idea, most really modern TVs only come with HDMI connections and possibly an afterthought composite / AV connection (not RGB) if you are lucky.

I gather the reason so many of these video-to HDMI projects are based on the R-Pi, apart from the fact that it's just very useful that way, is because the Rpi includes an HDMI licence in with the price?
