Substitute LP for CD and I doubt there would be much difficulty in finding similar pronouncements from 30-odd years ago. As Yogi Berra observed, it's hard to make predictions, especially about the future. Both formats have a lot going for them, and CDs haven't even had their first nostalgia-fuelled revival yet: unless I missed it, since I've never stopped buying the things.
