You were lucky. The first time I went to buy a CD from a record shop there were about five of them in glass case. Donald Fagen's Nightfly, Dires Straits' Bothers in Arms and few more that I can't recall but were of no interest to me at the time. Oh, there may have been a Pink Floyd one in there. Yes, CDs were seen as prized possessions and were displayed in glass cases!
