Yes I was prepared for the long haul, The sheets when assembled measured 1.5 meters long. Bit of a relief it was not needed. I think the reason the FM worked to some extent was due to the wire being in close proximity to the aerial.

Any one know what the white wire inside the the case is for? It ends 20mm below the badge shown. It is connected to the two neg wires of the speakers so I expect some sort of screening.

I was listening to DAB stations while taking the photos yesterday, The little radio on top of the set has a homemade TX inside it and puts out the DAB on MW through the single blue wire placed near the Grundig in #1
