Late 1980s as I recall.
I used to have a table there, going right back to the late 1960s, and went to the last one.
At the time I lived in Sheffield, and left there in 1991.
It always had a nice family atmosphere with lots for children to do, but in the end, the cost of the site, the marquees, the dependence on the weather, made it too much of a risk for the Club to stand. With radio clubs having dwindling numbers of aging members, it became harder to get people involved in organising and staffing such major events.
I remember when self-build PCs were all the rage. (Who would bother nowadays?).
Lots of old timers used to whinge about it being a computer rally - not a radio rally.
Ho hum.
Happy days, evocative of the poem 'A Shropshire Lad':
"Into my heart an air that kills
From yon far country blows:
What are those blue remembered hills,
What spires, what farms are those?
That is the land of lost content, I see it shining plain,
The happy highways where I went
And cannot come again".
