Default Re: Vintage Radios, TVs etc in films and on TV (NOT ANACHRONISMS)

A cobbled together prop is OK. The trouble comes when they use recognisable wrong equipment. Seeing someone shouting into a microphone while twiddling the tuning knob on a BC221 is funny if you recognise it.

But if we insisted on real gear, props departments would have to build real atom bombs, real death-dealing positronic ray machines and real daleks. It could be nasty if one got on the loose.

The target audience of films and TV are electromuggles.

The BBC iPlayer currently has 'The Shining' as their contribution to people's mental health in current circumstances. The radio transceiver at the hotel looks to be by Collins. So full marks to Mr Kubrick.
