The hydraulic reference turntable was sold both with the transcriptors arm and armless, ready for a 3009, so there was no such thing as an original arm for Peter's turntable. His 3009 was the first arm ever fitted to it. Back in the day, of course, no-one gave a thought to resale prices 50 years in the future and the SME does seem to have proven itself as the better arm.

I just remember once seeing a 'vestigial arm' trying to track a warped record. I'd like to be able to forget it.
