Goblin 854 teasmade spits water from lid.
I am trying to resurrect my mothers old Teasmade. It is fully working EXCEPT when the kettle boils, quite a bit of water spits out of the hole in the lid before pressure builds up enough to force the water out of the spout.
Should there be a rubber safety bung or similar in this hole (about 3mm)? |
Re: Goblin 854 teasmade spits water from lid.
Hi,
The hole is there to allow steam to escape until pressure builds up sufficiently to be transferred into the teapot, and therefore must not be blocked. What model is your Teasmade and does it work OK? |
Re: Goblin 854 teasmade spits water from lid.
Is the kettle being overfilled, perhaps?
Is there supposed to be an internal shield to stop steam bubble generated splashes from directly reaching the vent hole? ??? |
Re: Goblin 854 teasmade spits water from lid.
Is the spout totally clear, without an excessive build up of limescale?

Re: Goblin 854 teasmade spits water from lid.
Thanks for the suggestions. There was an internal baffle on the lid which had been rotated allowing two holes to coincide. Now it works fine after adjusting the spring (under the kettle) tension.
