Ghostly occurence?

In the mid 90s I worked in a care home, One night just before Christmas the member of staff on night duty heard Silent Night played on a Hammond Organ over and over at about 2am. A biggish building and she heard it in 2 areas, maaybe different residents with a radio on? OK, my question: is it possible that a radio station changed it's interval signal to this carol over the Christmas period? Or, could the emergency call system have picked up a radio station?
Or maybe a ghost of course

How inappropriate could that be? Anything but Silent!

Wouldn't surprise me if one of the religious (Premier?) stations did that.

Thanks, interesting. . .

Its not impossible for 2 separate radio stations to both play the same tune.
But the chances are slim that 2 residents to also be listening to them.

Hospital radio perhaps.

No it wasn't a hospital. Another resident also heard it. Could the emergency call system somehow pick up say short wave radio?

Could well pick up a transmission if it was close to a transmitter or had iffy screening. I have also heard radio stations being picked up on an audio amplifier, the amplifier acting both as a detector as well as an amplifier . The cause being broken outer screening on a phono interconnect cable.

Re: Ghostly occurence?

Just out of curiousity, did someone in the said care home die prior to hearing the organ?
This question may well answer what may have been happening.
I won't go into any detail as to what may have been going on as it is well beyond the scope of this forum.
All I will say is, you are dealing with a natural-born spiritualist.

To all the forum members, may all the Gods out there keep you safe this Christmas.

Rick.

Re: Ghostly occurence?

Thanks Christopher and Rick, both really interesting points. I wondered at the time if the call system picked up what i now know is an interval signal.
On the 2nd point, i don't think anyone had just died but there was actually a Hammond organ in the home (unusual instrument), which had been donated by a former resident who had died a year or so previously

Just out of curiousity, could the resident actually play the organ they donated?
Better still, did they ever play the said song on it?
The plot thickens.

Re: Ghostly occurence?

Yes, he played the organ quite well apparently and was, i think, a church organist. I don't know if he ever played Silent Night, but he probably did as residents had Xmas tea & singsong. The member of staff went straight to the hall where the organ was on hearing the music, but no one was there. . . .

Re: Ghostly occurence?

Generally speaking if more than one person hears such a phenomenon simultaneously the whole complexion of the event (and the likelihood of the cause) can shift significantly. If there is only one witness and no apparent causation it is virtually impossible to discern whether the signal is auditory, or psychic.

I do not dispute Rick's comments; make no mistake, very odd things happen...and usually we nail the conventional causes before looking elsewhere.

Re: Ghostly occurence?

I would prefer to think that the emergency call system picked something up and put this possibility to staff member concerned the next day when she told us all about it. She was really scared poor devil😵. Because i had heard Radio Tirana's interval signal in the 70s (know what it was now thanks to this forum) so knew radio stations could play certain tunes over and over poss to keep frequency open.
However, the ghost possibility puzzled me ever since. . . .

Re: Ghostly occurence?

Could I ask how he died, if you don't mind me asking?
If he died peacefully, that's good, if not, he may be trying to communicate.
On how many occasions (days/nights) was the organ heard?
If the answer is only one occasion, it may possibly be a form of communication.
I may be wrong with my thoughts, it may be something simple like more than one radio left on, just another thought.

Re: Ghostly occurence?

I think it was heart failure so peacefully i guess. His wife (widow) was resident at the home. She was 'my' client but had previously been, well verbally abused by another member of staff. Maybe he was trying to communicate about that,
It was just that 1 night it was heard

Re: Ghostly occurence?

Thanks for the info.
By the sound of it, it was his way of saying goodbye, albeit through an organ.
Please do not be alarmed by this, it is rare anyone will ever encounter things like this happening, only the chosen will ever witness anything, it could be seen as a sign that he's made it to the astral world, a place our spiritual beings go after departing our physical bodies.
Personally, I have come across (even seen) things that would scare the hell out of most people, it is seen as someones message to the living, albeit good or bad.

I'm afraid this is all off topic for the forum. Everyone will have their own views of spiritualism and the supernatural, but this isn't the place to discuss such things.
