Useful O-rings at Wilko

Wilko sell packs of assorted O-rings for £1.35 - you get a good selection of diameters and thicknesses. I used one to replace the perished rubber tyre on a Philips reel-to-reel tape recorder.

A bargain!

I have found that you need to buy the other pack with larger diameter ones in it for bath and basin plugs if one of them snaps.

Ebay sellers have them too. They make good tyres for idler wheels. You'd expect them to wear rapidly, but this doesn't seem to be the case, and they grip well.

I'd held held back on replying, but it's worth checking out both Aldi & Lidl as often they have cheap ( less than £2) boxes of items like this . Last offering I got a box of O rings ( fits my ailing pressure washer joints ) and a box of heatshrink which comes in very useful.

The flea market at Chesterfield has much larger boxes of "O" rings for about a tenner.

Machine Mart (if there's one near you) do several boxes of O-rings and also assortments of E-clips, circlips, springs, etc. I find them very useful to keep in the workshop...

Very handy if you just want a few...
How many of us buy way too much of everything? I do.

My big box from the market looks like that Screwfix one but in blue as opposed to red.

Just be careful if you use them with fuels and oils, I don't think they are nitrile.

I had a look in my nearest Wilko in Wimbledon yesterday and there were none left. Surely there aren't that many Forum members living in the area of Wimbledon who have purchased the entire stock? If there are that many of us, perhaps we ought to arrange to meet up regularly in one of the excellent local pubs!

Colin.
