An admission that the only audible change is in the mind of the recently fleeced purchaser!.

It's also interesting that their hairy fairy, simile based, overtly vague descriptions of what is actually inside adds to the mystique as well as meaning nothing. Sweet honey for the audiophool; snake oil and voodoo at a satisfying, effect proving, sky high price.

Well there you have it. One would hope not.

The next question is - does it have any measurable difference at *any* frequency.

Once you've measured them, the force holding the fairy dust dissipates and they are ruined, no longer having any sonic benefit.

I grow carnivorous plants. What would their frequency response be ?

Not sure. But I'd expect them to make the sound more aggressive, forwards and with 'bite'.

That reminds me to check that the grounding cable at my favourite distillery providing my very best audio upgrade (a glass from same) is of the very best quality, I don't want it blowing up! Should I upgrade my glass?

Craig That was great, I understand Russ Andrews will be releasing purified house plant water for £269 a litre.

Turned the system on a this morning and it sounds a bit distorted on one channel... had a look at the Trusty ‘ole Radford STA12 and one of the EL34’s is seriously red plating to the point its going to expire, ah that’s the problem a serous bias failure..... but then I noticed the flowers in the room - pictures attached - threw them out and got some fresh flowers and hey presto the system sounds great.... the EL34 is still red plating like mad... nah, can’t see a problem there, now I have fresh flowers :);D:);D:)

Are you saying I'm about to be undercut by florists Terry :o !

By way of a fight-back maybe I should start mass-producing these (I built this Nixie clock as a present for my brother a few years ago) ;D ?

Cheers,

GJ

Do you ever see the people on BBC breakfast on Saturday mornings regarding Covid? They have various competitions regarding plants / flowers / clocks. That is a hands down win!

Let's call a halt on the houseplants thing. It was, after all, an April fool jest taking the micky regarding some typical audiophool beliefs, so we wouldn't want to criticise it, would we?

Ah audiophoolery... the bane of my life...

I see quite a few names I know from hi fi forums here... I'm a little infamous for "telling it like it is" to people who believe that magic fuses and kettle leads improve their hi fi...

Believe me, to quote Corp Jones "They don't like it up em Mr Mainwaring"!! (things have got nasty on many occasions!)

As I've just joined up here I guess that for now I'll hold back on my opinions as I'm not sure if I've found a welcoming refuge amongst fellow uber sceptics... or yet another place where one is not welcome to say what they really think of people who whilst on the one hand admit they can't wire a 13A plug but then will argue night is day with an EE who specialises in audio design (me!) that a magic kettle lead at £400 can transform sound quality.

Just a reminder that this is a friendly forum, and the mods don't allow out and out attacks on the deluded, whether other forum members or not. Please don't go beyond gentle mockery. People with audiophool beliefs are more deserving of pity than hostility.

There are plenty of real electronic engineers and audio professionals among the membership here, so scepticism about audio woo is very much the dominant culture.
