No, that won't detect anything. Everyone and his father knows you need a Solartron scope showing a radially-modulated Lissajous figure along with a humming noise to do any detectoring! Real-time 2-D is needed to discriminate between alien and spook activity. 0-dimensional LEDs, even if blue, just don't cut the ectoplasm.

Alien: "Take me to your leader!!!"
Me: "No, sorry, it would be cruel. I couldn't do that, not even if you were a Vogon."

Several 405-line tv's (looked like real pictures) on tonight's 'The Larkins' re-imagining of The Darling Buds of May. (ep.3). The larkins were having a new tv aerial, though the one fitted appeared to be a stack of UHF concoctions.
TVs appeared to be a Bush TV53 and Murphy V...something??) in the larkins house then a TV22 at the vicar's.

I went out to move my car just now only to hear on the radio a discussion about the difference between the Pye 25A, 25B, and 25C.

In a recent episode of MacGyver the team have to discover the data contained in this IC.
Looks like the frame output chip from a 1980s TV set.

Mike, if only you'd put an L between the A and the I in that typo, you would have coined a new term for a Phantom Twiddler ;)

That was my first thought.

EDIT: I might have posted the questions before quite a while ago but I couldn't find the post off hand so hence me posting the questions again.

Some cryptic clues....

1) A type of insulating tape beginning with k....sub. the n with p and add an i that will give you an anagram for the title of the film.

2) Constantinople.

3) The person who's hand the "device" is on was a well known English actor.

Easier now.

Lawrence.

The film is 'Topkapi' - not sure which actor though, perhaps Robert Morley or Peter Ustinov?

Top gun :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Robert Morley's hand in the photo.

I found my original quiz post on the forum about this and other films with radio bits, it was back in 2016, nobody back then got the Topkapi one.

It was the first clue Lawrence and a bit of Googling that did it.

Thanks for the Radio 4 reminder Graham and Mike [339 340*. I'd picked up on the title during my media watch but not really followed through on the "frequency" pun! I will now!

I watched 'Vigil' on catch up and noticed two Tektronix 7844 mainframe oscilloscopes in the captain's cabin, one of which was upside down!

Tonight's doctor who (21/11/2021 Village of the angels) contains a brilliant gaff, an Ultra Tape recorder with the feed reel loaded upside down so the reel rotates in the wrong direction, who would have thought the beeb wouldn't know how to load a tape recorder, very short video of it here filmed off my laptop so not great quality ******************************CJnk3CxjWkGf5ap8A
