JVC VR-5535x - Access to the pre-amp board

Hello.

Does anybody has any troubleshooting experience on this receiver, or a similar one? I need to access the pre-amp board that sits behind the faceplate, but this seems to be impossible without breaking the dial cord...
Any ideas?
